Who we are
An independent publication for the people who run small businesses - plain-language news you can actually use.
Why we exist
If you run a small business, you run the shop and do the marketing, the books and the hiring - usually with no time and no team. You don’t need more noise. You need to know what just changed, and what to do about it.
Most business news isn’t written for you. It’s written for big companies, or by someone trying to sell you something - and the jargon does the rest.
The Digest exists to translate what’s actually happening - a law change, a new tool, a cost shift - into plain English and a clear next step. Every story ends with what it means for your business, and what to do about it.
What we believe
Plain language, always
If a sentence needs a glossary, we rewrite it.
Useful over clickbait
We'd rather be the thing you act on than the thing you click.
Value first
Every piece earns its place by what you can do with it.
Honest about what we don't know
When the real answer is “it depends”, we say so - and tell you what it depends on.
Like a clever friend over coffee
Warm, direct and on your side. Never corporate.
How we stay independent - and how we make money
The Digest is free to read. We make money in two ways - and we label both, every time.
Sponsorship & advertising
A brand can pay for a clearly marked slot - always labelled “Ad” (“Anzeige” in our German edition), and never dressed up as editorial.
Affiliate links in Perks
When you take up a deal in our Perks section, we may earn a commission - at no extra cost to you. It never decides what makes the list.
Editorial is independent of all of it. Recommendations aren’t bought, sponsored content is labelled, and any tool we feature - including Adlarion - is one option among real alternatives, never a guaranteed verdict.
Who’s behind it
The Small Business Digest is published by the team behind Adlarion, a marketing platform for small businesses. We’re upfront about that connection - and we run the Digest as an independent newsroom. That’s the whole point: a publication worth trusting can’t just be an advert for its owner.
