Google now shows you what its automated assistant collected about your business
A new "Collected info" tab in your Business Profile shows details Google picked up from calls and chats with your business — and lets you delete the ones that are wrong.
What happened
Google announced on 14 September that the "Collected info" tab is now live in Business Profiles after several months of testing. Google's help documentation explains that to keep your profile accurate and discoverable, Google "may occasionally reach out using automated messages via call, text, or WhatsApp to the verified phone number on your profile" — and that any information you give in response may be used to update your listing. The tab is currently available for selected regions, languages and business categories, so it may not appear for every business yet. Details are in Google's Business Profile help documentation.
What it means
Until now, these automated updates largely happened in the background. If whoever answered the phone gave a rough answer about your opening hours, your services or whether you offer delivery, that answer could end up on your public listing without you ever seeing it. Your Google listing is often the first thing a customer sees, and a wrong opening time or a service you don't actually offer costs you a real visit. The new tab turns an invisible process into one you can check.
What you can do
Set aside ten minutes this week to go through the tab once, then check it occasionally rather than never.
- ✓Open your Business Profile, select Edit profile, then Collected info. If you don't see the tab, the feature hasn't reached your region or category yet.
- ✓Read each entry alongside its source and collection date — Google shows both, so you can tell which call or message it came from.
- ✓Delete anything wrong or out of date. Deleting removes it from Google's records but does not change details already showing on your profile, so correct those separately.
- ✓Tell whoever answers your phone that automated calls from Google may come in, and agree on the correct answers for hours, services and location beforehand.
Common questions
Does deleting an entry fix my public listing?
Not on its own. Google's help page is explicit that deleting collected information removes it from Google's records but does not change other details already on your Business Profile. If a wrong opening time is showing publicly, edit it in your profile as well.
Why is Google calling my business in the first place?
Google says it uses these automated calls, texts and WhatsApp messages to confirm business details and keep your profile current and discoverable for customers searching for businesses like yours. The number it uses is the verified phone number on your profile.
I can't find the tab. Is something wrong?
Probably not. Google states the feature is currently available for select regions, languages and business categories and may not be available for all users yet.
